Halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! We had a great time! Amazingly it was really nice weather...wow for Idaho. We went to the trunk-or-treat and had a lovely time. Aliya loved watching all the big kids and we handed out a bunch of candy. She even got to eat a sucker...her first Halloween candy and she loved it!

Pumpkins

Last night we had a pumpkin carving party with our neighbors.  It was lots of fun for everyone!  I should have taken a picture but, apparently Aliya really likes raw pumpkin!  I gave her a piece of the one I was carving to play with.  I figured she would stick it in her mouth and then decide to just play with it, oh no.  I looked over at her a few minutes later and she had eaten almost the whole thing! Skin included!  I'm not to worried  about it but I probly should have washed it a bit more. Oh well, enjoy the pics!

The whole group from left to right: Rachel, Lincoln, Luke, Me, Daniel, and Aliya.

Daniel really was having fun, he's just really tired.

Luke was very excited about his "crazy squirrel" Pumpkin!

Boo!

We've been teaching Aliya animal sounds for a while now, she's had barking down pat for several months now but she recently inherited several books with pictures of lots of different animals.  So, one day I was trying to teach her about the cow, it says "moo". No, not anymore, Aliya has decided the cow says "boo".  So, we went to the grocery store the other night and they have a little eating area where we were sitting where the walls have pictures of barnyard animals painted on them.  Aliya turned around, saw the huge cow on the wall and extatically shouted "Boo, boo boo!!!" for several minutes, it was hilarious!

Fun times

Do you ever look at the pictures on your camera and think WOW I thought I took way more pictures than that!!! Well, here are a few random fun pictures that I thought I had more of.

We went to a pumpkin farm with Shanetta's family which was a total blast, I highly reccomend this place to anyone with access.  This was taken on the hay ride! Ya we actually went on a hay ride! (yes I'm from Idaho and yes this was a first for me.)

Day at the Beach!

A couple weeks ago Aliya and I went to the beach with my sister Elisabeth aka Auntie Bella.  First we went to a farm and picked blueberries,(I think Aliya ate a pint all by herself), can't say I blame her, they were yummy!  Then we went to a place called Sauvie Island which is a beach on the river, not the coast.  The water was actually not too cold. We had a FABULOUS time.  Aliya apparently LOVES sand, even more than water, and that is saying something!  She crawled all over in it, threw it, and even tried to eat it a couple times.  It was a great day, much enjoyed by all.

Far Far Away

So, for those who haven't heard, we are in the process of moving to Portland. Aliya and I are already here staying with our friends the Ganirs. Daniel will be coming to join us as soon as I can find an apartment/ job. I have been here since last Sunday. We drove out, ( a very very long drive, especially for Aliya), but we survived. I have to say it is GEORGEOUS here! Especially after leaving a very brown August Idaho. I am searching for jobs and apartments, hopefully something will pop up soon. In the meantime I am loving spending every day with Shanetta and her adorable girls, and Aliya is loving having playmates and a more baby-proof place to play. Well, I'll keep you posted on what happens. Cross your fingers for us!

Happy Birthday Aliya!

My baby turned 1 year old on the 16th, I can hardly believe it!  Aliya had a great birthday.  She played with baloons, went to the splash park, ate a cupcake (part of it anyway, she didn't know what to make of the frosting), opened presents, and Grandpa Kotter and Grandma Susie came to visit.  It was a lovely day.  I can't believe how the time has flown, people told me it would but I don't think you can really grasp it until it happens.  I finally got more pics added YAY!

Picture Time!

So, I finally downloaded a bunch of pics so I'm just going to post some with captions. (My apologies, I can't get them to flip upright, if  anyone can help with that, I'd appreciate it.) Enjoy!Aliya & Grandma Susie on her first visit to the zoo! (that's a camel behind them if you can't tell.)

Darn computers!

So much for posting more often. I wish our darn computer would let me do this from home. It is finals time at BYU-I so I am forced to do this in the library where I can't access the pictures on my camera to add the ones to go with this post. Argh! Anyway... Aliya and I recently returned from a trip to Portland to see my bff Shanetta and her little family and my sister Elisabeth. Sadly we didn't get to see much of my sis due to drama with schedules and transporting baby, but we had a great time. Hopefully I'll get the pics uploaded soon. We went to the zoo in Tacoma (it's a long story but the gist is we thought it was closer than it was and didn't bother to check a map, a very long day for mommies and babies, we will invest in a map next time) which was amazing! We also took the kids to the water park which they totally loved. Mostly though we just hung out. Aliya loves playing with the "big kids" and wants to do everything they do. She may just start walking to keep up with them.

Daniel recently went on a trip for school to Salt Lake. They went to a bunch of museums and a big art show which was super fun for him. When we all got back we took off to Island park for the fourth of July. Aliya did pretty well with the fireworks, she was a bit fussy but mostly just because it was way past her bedtime.

Graduation is rapidly approaching (NEXT FRIDAY!!!!) I'm more excited than Daniel is I think. He is ready to be done, yet hesitant about entering the real world and all that jazz (I don't blame him). Well, I'm including some random pics just because they're cute. Love to all!

Long time no blog

So, I realize it has been way too long since I posted, and that would be because our computer is practically worthless these days, it won't even let me check my G-mail anymore....argh!  SO... how about an update!  Things with us are good... graduation is fast approaching for Daniel and I'm getting very excited to move, however, he keeps changing his mind about the timing and what exactly we're doing next (driving me insane to say the least) so I'll let you all know as soon as I do where we're headed and all that jazz.

Aliya is growing so fast.  She is cruising all over the furniture and climbing anything and everything.  She definitely keeps me on my toes.  Our house still isn't very baby proof because we're so crammed but she is pretty good about listening most of the time considering she's 91/2 months old now, can you believe it.  She loves being outside.  We have really enjoyed the warm days we've had, (lately not so many, it hailed today!) it's good for both of us to be able to get out of the house.  Well, that's the gist of things in our neck of the woods, I'll try to get up to the school more often to post.

Vacation!

So, this is a while in coming, but I wanted to have the pictures.  Recently Daniel had a break between semesters and we went to Utah to see his family and our friends Matt & Amy and their boys.  We had a wonderful time, it was so good to get away and to see everyone!
